Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the best mixture of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are able to select the most beneficial machine each and every instance.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, some versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
