Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a net account. The rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most money-making game each time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
